I don't know about that time moves in only one direction thing. Not quantum mechanics-wise, because there are folks who know physics who say we might move both ways, but as a teacher, I'd see the most suave and too cool 11th graders become 10 again when I played a clip from Sponge-Bob or Doug or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in my classroom. it's rare, but not so much that you didn't see it once a week. So, yeah, it'll happen. :-)
I'm good with a lot of the gobbledygook, and can even grasp some of the jibberjabber, but only conceptually. My math doesn't' go that far. I can 'see' a lot of what they talk about, but it's like like watching a soccer match with Chinese-speaking commentary. It makes sense, but don't ask what they're saying.
I think about this stuff all the time as it relates to my daughter. My initial response is to be sad because of the passage of time. But then I remind myself how lucky I was to have that time in the first place.
As one of the few parents chaperoning a middle school overnighter for adventures in fossil Oregon. Looking for fossils and getting a guide on geology. The big event was looking for scorpions in our cabin. It was me who killed them and declared it safe to go to sleep
Later another chaperone around the fire after my cabin had gone to sleep shared a sip off of his small dram of bourbon. Everything turned out well. Kind of fun actually.

I figured it was probably technically wrong, but I was like, cool line… I’m leaving it in lol.
I interviewed a physicist a few weeks ago about quantum gobbledygook and my brain still has not recovered 🤣

Enjoyed this Andrew.
Thanks, Henny!
Honestly, you were remarkably calm for someone who just learned kids were left behind at a place that sends people to space.
This was a sweet, fun post.
I truly enjoyed this, Andrew. Perfect blend of nostalgia, anticipatory nostalgia, and humor.
Thank you, Amanda!

Well done!
Aww, the tension and excitement of a school field trip! And the bittersweet passage of time. Good one, Andrew!
Thanks, Jennifer!
