TAGS is such a great show, and I love it when stuff like that becomes part of the family lore. I still tell my kids/young adults, “Have fun storming the castle!” every time they leave.
They brought in a ringer! So far my only sitcom-to-real-life moment has been getting hit in the nose with a football and recreating Marcia Brady's "Oh my nose!" episode. Yours is much better!
As usual, I love the sense of humor in your writing. Our kids only just introduced us to the show called "Is It Cake," so the cake line was especially timely. P.S. I'm so curious to know how your son landed on viola? Stringed instruments have been a hot topic of conversation here. P.P.S. Re: a long-ago post you shared, we finally refinished a wooden thing over Thanksgiving!
Thanks! Mine have been watching the cake show as well. They have the orchestra club at my son's school and he signed up because he likes signing up for pretty much everything. Mostly the kids got to choose between violin or viola (with like one bass and cello) and he did viola since it was a little different and most everyone else wanted to do violin. Glad you have entered your wood working era!
"Era" might be generous. We had a wood filler step which ended up being a little disastrous (it didn't actually take on the color of the stain at the next step as advertised). Even more stressful to me, we ended up with a small bucket of toxic paint sludge/brush water which is reducing/evaporating very slowly while I figure out how to handle it.
A GLASS jug! Your family must have been rich :) The episode quoted most often at my house is Mountain Wedding--the Robert E. Lee natural bridge, "just let that thumb hang," fish muddle, the best rock-thrower in the county, the lady sheriff...

Love it!
Hilarious! That Sophia's sister doesn't even go to that school is what really got me!
I definitely didn’t see it coming

Another classic! (But sorry about your nose that sounds really painful.)
Also, guess you didn’t see it coming either (sorry)
A lifelong dream achieved! I remember what a TAGS fan you are from our discussion of citizens arrests, so I understand the significance of this.
I knew you’d understand the significance. Still practically levitating over here.
“The best jokes are the ones you have to explain” 🤣 Dads everywhere are nodding their heads in agreement on this one.

Our wood working era lasted about a day and a half so I think you have us beat!
I love TAGS. My wife, um, does not. And yet, nearly 25 years later, we are still married.
Kudos to both of you for persevering!

Haha! Yes, that's yet another classic!
The greatest TV shows of the past never lose their appeal....
